ThinkQuest is a free, protected, online platform for teachers and students, sponsored by the Oracle Education Foundation. It includes an online project environment, competitions for students, and a library of content created by students.Online Project Environment
In the ThinkQuest project environment, students and teachers can create online projects that consist of pages where they post text, photos, multimedia, message boards, polls, etc. They can then partner with students and teachers in other countries and invite them to participate in the project. Users can only obtain accounts by signing up through an accredited school.Competition
In the ThinkQuest competition, student teams are challenged to create online content to address educational topics or global issues. Entries can take the form of a website or an online project (using ThinkQuest's project environment).A team must have 3 to 6 students and a Coach, who must be a teacher at an accredited school. The team can also have an Assistant Coach (optional). Teams compete in three age divisions – 12 & under, 15 & under, and 19 & under. At the end of the competition, professional educators judge the entries and select winners. All entries that meet a minimum quality standard are published online in the ThinkQuest Library.Winning teams receive laptop computers, digital cameras, grants for the Coach’s school, and/or a tripto the San Francisco Bay Area to attend ThinkQuest Live, depending on the award won. ThinkQuest Live is a weeklong event that includes workshops, activities, and an awards banquet, and is held annually during Oracle OpenWorld.
Library The ThinkQuest Library is an online repository that hosts the 7,000+ projects created by student teams for ThinkQuest competitions. It can be freely accessed by anyone on the InternetHistory
